This pink base plate is the same size and approximately the same thickness as the Lego version. It is slightly hefty then the Lego version, but not by much.The plastic feels more rigid than that of the Lego version. It is very cool that there are four base plates in this set as my son loves using this with his interconnecting blocks wither it be a Lego or a generic version or even larger version blocks. The dimensions are 10 inches by 10 inches. I experimented with all the different bricks that my son had and I was able to see that it had no issues with connecting with Lego, Lego Duplo, and Mega Blocks. My son is now in process of building a city for all the new mini-figures that are moving in apparently. Sounds like we need more Lego now. This just keeps giving him more ideas and brainstorm on what to do next. I certainly recommend this set to any parent or anyone with a young one who enjoys building with interconnecting blocks regardless of the brand of bricks you have.
