I’m a Professional Photographer, and my love for cameras is kind of inexplicable with words. I remember as a child receiving
a hand me down instant camera and just falling in love with the magic of instant photographs. I have several instant cameras that now are strictly part of my camera collection, but I wanted to get FujiFilm Instax Mini 8 Camera
to actually use. There is something beautiful, and unique about instant film that can’t be duplicated. I was not expecting my toddler’s reaction to the camera at all. As I was setting the camera with film, my son came
over and began to ask questions about it, he was excited by just looking at the camera. Naturally, my first photo was of him. Once he noticed the film coming out, his curiosity and excitement simply became genuine amusement.
He sat next to the photo, and patiently waited until it began to develop. He couldn’t believe his eyes, and since that moment “OUR” Instax received a new name, the “Magic Camera”.
The FujiFIlm Instax Mini 8 Camera comes with two AA batteries, so it is ready to use right off the box. The camera has pastel
yellow color which I find gives it a cute, and adorable feel to it. It is pretty easy to use. Place the batteries in the camera, place the film (it comes with 4!), remove the black backing (after you close the back of the
camera, otherwise you will ruin the film), press the button on the lower left corner of the lens area (it will turn on the camera), select the lightning you will be photographing under (there are 5 different light settings),
and began to photograph! Unlike the song, do not shake the photos; Set the photos aside and let the chemicals do their work. Do not worry, it takes a bit for any image to start showing. So if you have just a white looking
photo, do not freak out, it will develop.
The accessory kit is a must have if you are into photography, it comes with everything needed to begin taking photos immediately.
The kit has two double packs of film (40 photos in total). But if it wasn’t for the kit I would have never known that there were so many accessories available for the Instax camera. The kit has four filters: orange, red,
green, and blue. The different colors will alter the colors of what you are photographing according to the color you select which can be very fun and provide pretty unique results. Another great attachment is the selfie mirror
which is labeled as a “close-up lens” which matches the color of the camera; My kit has two selfie mirror lenses that are identical, I’m not sure if I received two by accident. It also comes with a fit case (with a removable
strap) for the camera that matches the color of my Instaxt, the inside of the case its very soft (felt like), and gray in color. In addition, the kit has 60 mini film stickers, 5 slide in frames (blue, green, pink, purple,
and yellow), a small pocket-size “Pieces of Moment” album that can hold up to 64 photos (4 per page, 2 per side) and a photo hanging set which has 10 assorted colors cardboard frames, 10 tiny clips (clothes pin style),
and the string to hang. The accessories kit is so complete that it even has four AA rechargeable batteries, and an AC/DC charger. The kit provides anything you will need, or did not know you would use for the camera. It is
perfect for a gift.
Overall, I don’t feel I can express how much I love this camera, and its accessories kit. It is so easy to operate that
my four year old knows how to, correctly, use it, and the kit provides many ways to display the photographs that are fun as the camera itself. I couldn’t recommend it more. It has been perfect for capturing moments while
creating newer ones in our household. “Its like magic!”, according to my son.
