Cat Skeleton by Prextex

The best part of any holiday around our house has to be the decorating process; We simply love it, and have plenty of fun doing so. Without a doubt, Halloween is our favorite one because of all of all of its decor possibilities. This year, we have change somethings because our toddler now notices things, and is more inquisitive. Needless to say that our decor is more whimsical than anything else. But while “window shopping” for Halloween decor, our son noticed the skeleton of different animals, and was immediately intrigued. We have cats in our household, so all of the skeletons, the cat ones were his favorite yet he was a bit apprehensive about it.

After some thinking, we decided we should get him a cat skeleton because it would help him with understanding that it is a pretend cat that will not do anything to him or to others. We want him to have fun during Halloween, and not be scared about decorations or costumes that we cannot control.

With that said, we went ahead an ordered this particular cat skeleton by Prextex because it does not have any motion related reactions, sounds, and its joints move only slightly. We like that its jaw joint moves; Its tail is also completely bendable, and its head can be rotated 360 degrees. Other joins move a bit like the front and back legs. The skeleton is made out of hard plastic, and it is 14”. Compare to other cat skeletons we have seen, this one has a bit more weight to it which makes it sturdier. The details on the bones are remarkable, quite intriguing. If anyone has been scared by the skeleton has been one of our cats who seems to be completely spooked by it, and avoided its sight when it was inside.

We decided to take it this cat skeleton a bit further. As part of our arts and crafts part of homeschooling, we painted the cat with glow in the dark paint as we want to place the cat outside the house but want it to be visible at night. It was a fun activity which also allowed our son to learn the right names of a few of the bones itself. We did not painted the whole cat to perfection but enough for it to be seen at a distance. We are sure that next year we will be able to have a bit more elaborate decor because he now understands that all the decor out there for Halloween is pretend, and meant to be “funny scary”. This cat definitely, gets all the candy as it is well made and all that we expected.

** I will add photos of how the cat looks with the glow in the dark paint
once the weather allows us to take some nice photos. Rain, rain go away! **
