Solar System Projection LED Night Light, by E P

I received the solar system projector lamp. It has a printed transparency film that goes on top of the lamp and is held in place by the rim on top of the lamp which needs to be removed to place the film. The thin plastic wall around the lamp has the solar system. The plastic base of the lamp is blue, has two buttons at each side labeled: “LED” and “STAR”. It also has the name, “STAR MASTER” printed and the months of the year which are on the top of the base. The lamp has no instructions so I’m not sure how the months part is relevant to the lamp. The projector lamp needs three AAA batteries (not four as the listing says) which are not included; It also says it can be powered with an USB cable but I tried using an USB cable to connect the lamp and it did not work, it did not even plugged perhaps because it is for a power adapter and not the USB as the listing states. The lamp consumes batteries quickly, I have resulted in using rechargeable batteries for it because my son really likes the projections on the ceiling and walls.

The quality of the lamp is not the best, it is very flimsy, and delicate. The rim that holds the top transparency film comes off easily which can be very frustrating for a child, I know it is for mine. The lamp itself has a light in the middle, and three LED lights in different colors that turn on and off. I find that the lights are very bright, and distracting if used as a night light; I placed it on the top of a tall dresser that is at a higher level than my son’s bed to prevent him from having a direct view of it at night. The projection on the wall and ceiling looks nice.

Overall, my four year old loves this projector lamp. The only thing he cares is that he can see the stars and planets in his bedroom. However, I do not like it. It drains the batteries quickly, it does not have an auto shut-off option or a timer, so every morning I have to place the batteries to charge which is another task added to my day. The quality of the lamp, like I had mentioned is not the best, it is very low like something that you would find at a dollar store. I was surprised the lamp was in one piece as there was no padding or protection and the box was all crushed. Since my son loves it, and because the projection itself is nice I gave it an “It’s okay” rating but I would not buy it again.

Disclosure: I received this item at a deducted price in exchange for my sincere, impartial testing, and assessment. My opinion is always based on mine, and my family’s experiences with the product. I have no relationship with the seller, and there were no promises regarding the outcome of my review.
