Pre-Seasoned 12.5 inches Cast Iron Skillet by FS Kitchen

After some brainstorming on ways that could help my iron levels improve naturally, my doctor suggested changing our cooking pans into cast iron ones. I have a somewhat rare type of anemia, and my system does not tolerate iron supplements, pills or even infusions. Essentially I’m allergic to iron but as everyone else, I need it. So, following the doctor’s recommendations we have been adding cast iron pots and pans to our kitchen. According to him, when cooking on cast iron the food receives
some of that iron which then is ingested when we eat it. It has not been a magic cure by any means, I still get sick after eating but it is not as bad as when I was attempting the iron pills or supplements.

This 12.5" cast iron skillet is impressive, and, as expected, a bit on the heavy side. It comes pre-seasoned which means it is ready to be used. Since we are fairly new at cast iron cookware it was important to get a pan that was easy to use as we are still learning on how to care properly for it. My husband is very detailed oriented and read all the book that came with the pan. He already knows how to do the pre-seasoning (or re-reasoning) of the pan which is a simple process of adding a thin layer of oil to the cooking surface of the pan after every wash. It has become his favorite pan to use as he loves to transfer the pan to the oven to finish cooking. One important thing to know if as us you are new to cast iron cookware is to never leave it wet as it will rust fairly quick but if it happens it can be fixed by sanding the pan down which makes this skillet beyond durable in comparison to other cookware.

Altogether, this cast iron pan not only offers an impressive and professional level cookware, it also helps improve the health of some that like me need every little bit of iron ingestion we can get. If given proper care, this pan can last for a very long time. We have no complaints about it, and are very happy with it. We also appreciate the literature provided.
