Some years ago we bought our first slow cooker but it ended up being too small for our family’s need. It has been collecting dust ever since then. So when I order this 8.5 quart slow cooker I knew it would be bigger but I had no idea it would be this big. Yes, when it comes to measurements I’m always clueless. I feared that this slow cooker would again suffer the same faith as the previous once and end up collecting dust but no, we have been using it since day one. My husband in particular loves it, and has been searching for new recipes for it.
This oval shaped slow cooker has a digital display above its touch buttons that allows for it to programmed which has been great since we work and also do homeschooling; There are days that we are simply too busy to be at the kitchen. Now, there are no excuses to be ordering delivery as it only less than 15 minutes to set up a nice dinner to cook on its own. Oh, and the smell that slowly takes over the whole house is delicious, it even gets the little one to want to eat without any fussiness. The settings of the slow cooker are low, high and keep warm. The first time we used it we wanted to see if the “high” option was actually high, and I must say it only took about a minute for the contents to start boiling because of it we are not tempted now to put in high if we do not need it to be as we know there is no playing around with how hot it gets and how fast it does it. It is capable of slow cooking for up to 20 hours, we have not tried it for that long as I don’t think any of us could deal with the wait while smelling it cook for that long.
The cooker is portable in the sense that it can lock its glass lid in place. I do not see us bring it anywhere because of its size, and also because we like this slow cooker so much that we would not want anything to happen to it but it is a great option for when we have guests over. The lid also has rubber around it which helps with its sealing, and there is no annoying noises whenever we have to remove it and place it back. The inner part of the slow cooker is a removable stoneware that is dishwasher safe as the lid itself.
Altogether, as you will see in our video, we are able to cook a whole chicken in it and still have plenty of space for adding other things to it. This slow cooker is simply extremely convenient, and a time saver. Its timer even shows a count down that allows us to prepare anything else we want to add to complete our meal, our previous slow cooker did not do this so it is a completely new feature for our kitchen. There isn’t anything that we would change about this slow cooker as it works better than we anticipated.
